How to Save Instagram Reels to Your iPhone Camera Roll
Instagram’s own “Save” only bookmarks a Reel inside the app. If you want the actual video in your Photos library, to watch offline or keep, you can do it in Safari in under a minute.
1. Copy the Reel link
In the Instagram app, open the Reel, tap the share icon (paper plane) and choose Copy link.
2. Open ReelVideoDownloader in Safari
Open the Instagram downloader in Safari and paste the link into the box, or tap Paste and allow clipboard access when Safari asks.
3. Download the video
Tap Download, then tap the quality button. Safari will ask whether you want to download the file. Tap Download again.
4. Move it to Photos
- Tap the downloads arrow in Safari’s address bar, or open the Files app and go to Downloads.
- Open the video, tap the share icon and choose Save Video.
- The Reel now appears in your Photos library like any other clip.
Troubleshooting
Reels from private accounts can’t be downloaded. If nothing happens after tapping a quality, check Settings › Safari › Downloads and make sure a download location is set.
